Jennifer Lawrence Tops Highest-Paid Actress List
SHE may have been at the centre of a storm about unequal pay last December, but Jennifer Lawrence has still emerged as the world’s highest-paid actress, knocking last year’s leader, Sandra Bullock (who has dramatically dropped down to 12th place), off the top spot.
Lawrence’s payday was bumped from $34 million in 2014 to $52 million in 2015 thanks, by large, to her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games trilogy. Other film roles, as well as a lucrative Dior contract, also contribute to her staggering earnings. It puts her $16.5 million ahead of the second highest-paid actress, Scarlett Johansson, who comes in at $35.5 million, while third place goes to Melissa McCarthy who pulled in $23 million in between June 1, 2014 and June 1, 2015.
