n expat from Bangladesh has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and subsequent deportation from the country by a Doha Criminal Court for indulging in the trade of illicit drugs.
According to the local Arabic daily Arrayah, the honourable court also sent another Bangladeshi expat to prison for a period of 5 years and subsequent deportation in the same case. Both the defendants have also been ordered to pay a fine of QR200, 000 each.
According to the case file the two defendants were involved in the trade of amphetamine, the confirmation of which was provided to the Drug Prevention Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) by an informed. The source informed the authorities that the duo was looking to make a trade of QR40, 000.
After receiving the information the police raided the place and caught the duo in the act trying to sell the drugs, around 978 of which were recovered from their possession.
