A 27-year-old man pleaded not guilty to smuggling drugs into the country at a court in Sharjah.
According to the Arab national he was fooled into smuggling drugs after a woman reportedly gave it to him claiming it was medicines for her sick friend, the Sharjah court has heard.
The accused O.F. told the presiding Judge Hussain Al Ousofi that he was stunned when the police arrested him at the Sharjah Airport after an X-ray screening of his baggage.
He said that a woman named N. living in Jordan gave him the tablets and told him that someone will come and collect the medicine from him. He added that he did not know that those tablets were drugs banned in the UAE.
The accused told the judge that he was cheated by the woman as he just want to transport the medicine to the sick man.
