DOHA: Qalam Hebr for Creative Writing, a private company founded by two Qatari writers Buthaina Al Janahi and Kummam Al Maadeed, launched its events, recently, with a symposium of local talents at the Fire Station – Artist in Residence building.
The symposium’s activities started with a musical performance by flute musician Yassin Al Ayary and Zither musician Tawfiq Merkhan. In addition, a panel discussion about “The Writing Experience and its Challenges” was conducted with authors, Dr Amir Tag Elsir, Aisha Al Kuwari and Abdulla Fakhro.
The panel was moderated by writer and TV personality, Mohamed Al Hamadi. The activities included a book discussion on the poetry, “I decided to love you again” with the poet Nasser Al Wobair, followed by a poetry reciting session by the poet that was accompanied by Oud performance by musician Emad Al Eragi.
The discussion was moderated by TV personality, Mohammed Al Shahrani. An exhibition of local businesses was also accompanied the activities.
The businesses included, Dar Haa Gift Shop, Dar Roza for Publishing, Rwaq books subscription box, Samarkand for books distribution, Al-Sindan store and “Basmat Thabat” show area. The symposium also highlighted various artworks of artist, Albulhamed Al Sediqi. Buthaina Al Janahi, co-founder of Qalam Hebr, said:

Qalam Hebr for Creative Writing aims to provide a creative platform for ambitious writers to help refine their skills and exchange their experiences in an innovative and exceptional environment through a variety of a year-round activities.
