AMIRAH Droudis has been sentenced to 44 years in prison for the brutal stabbing murder of her lover Man Monis’ wife, whose body she doused in petrol and set alight in a suburban Sydney apartment block.

Droudis, 37, will serve a minimum of 33 years in Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre where Justice Peter Johnson said she remained “committed to her Muslim faith”.

Droudis, who became radicalised by Monis, carried out what Justice Johnson described as “a hot-blooded and frenzied murder” at the Lindt Cafe gunman’s behest in 2013.

The mother of Monis’ children, who can only be identified with the pseudonym “Helen Lee”, died in the ferocious and ritualistic killing after he lured her to the Werrington flat where he lived.

At the time, Monis had tricked his children into calling Droudis “Mummi” and the couple planned to form a new family with them once their real mother was gone.

Monis’ first wife went to his apartment block where she was murdered as part of an access visit for Monis with their young sons.

Justice Johnson described the “savage and sustained knife attack” was followed by fire to eliminate any chance of Ms Lee’s survival.

He said it was a “cruel and callous attack on a defenceless woman” and that “the setting alight of the body was a gratuitous act of defilement” of Monis’ ex-wife.
