HH Sheikha Moza: Arabs Failed to Adapt Technology in Linguistic Upbringing

Doha, January 20 (QNA) – Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser stressed that the Arab world did not benefit from the extraordinary scientific advances, particularly in the fields of education, information, communications and media in the development of language education as children started to use other languages even in addressing their parents.

HH Sheikha Moza was speaking at the opening session of the second edition of the Renaissance of Arabic Language Forum, which is being organized by QF member World Organization for Renaissance of Arabic Language (WORAL) under the theme of “Linguistic Upbringing of The Arab Child – The Reality and Prospects for the Future.” She said that the misuse of communication technology has harmed the Arabic language and introduced young people to electronic linguistic gibberish, expressing sadness that decades ago children spoke better Arabic language than present day.
