HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Tuesday the arrest of two individuals recruiting members for the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Hasakah in northeastern Syria.
In a statement, the Asayish detailed that the arrests occurred following a raid on Sep. 16, in the town of Arisha in the south of Hasakah.
The operation was prompted by intelligence indicating the suspects were actively spreading ISIS ideology and recruiting locals.
The Asayish said that the operation yielded significant evidence against the suspects, confirming their involvement in these activities.
In addition to the arrests, the Asayish confiscated weapons, ammunition, financial assets, and 20 communication devices.
