Christian Democrats elect new leader
The Christian Democrats on Saturday formally elected their youngest and first female party leader, the 28-year-old Ebba Busch Thor.
Ebba Busch Thor will now lead the Christian Democrats.
“Our best time is still ahead of us,” she told the party.
News agency TT reports that the announcement was met with a standing ovation and thunderous applause in Stockholm though the outcome was known well in advance. Busch Thor was the only remaining candidate to lead the Christian Democrats after her other challengers bowed out one by one.
