Class of 2016 celebrates its Graduation Ceremony in Qatar

Doha (WQ) – Middle East International School (MIS) warmly celebrated its Class of 2016 senior graduates in its own school premises on the evening of June 23rd.

The Senior Graduation marked the end of another memorable school year for the 46 students who graduated from high school.

The program was attended by the Chairman and Founder of MIS, Mr. Salem Rashid Thani Al Mohanadi, the guest of honor, Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Dean of College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University of Qatar Foundation, and the families of the graduates. The graduation program was organized under the management of MIS’s Acting School Principal, Dr. Reena Rajesh, with the collaboration of high school faculty and staff members.

As part of the commencement program, MIS’s newly appointed School Principal, Dr. Susan Ann Borden, who will be leading MIS at the start of the 2016-2017 school year, shared an inspirational speech to all the senior graduates. Her motivation and challenge to them was about knowing who they are at their core and continually learning in life.

The graduates also received distinction and other special awards, as presented by the Chairman, Mr. Al-Mohanadi, Dr. Hamdi and Dr. Rajesh. The Class Valedictorian, Usman Ayomide Akomolafe, gave a message of thanks to all the people who had contributed to his success and MIS, as a school who helped him pave a path towards his future plans. The Salutatorian, Balsam Mudathir, also shared a moving message to her fellow graduates about finding herself and believing in “the beauty of their dreams,” as Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous quote highlights the graduation theme.

Four MIS alumni also graced the event by giving brief speeches about their experience while a student at MIS and their life after MIS.

MIS takes pride in the fact that the Class of 2016 high school graduates have been accepted in prestigious universities, both in Qatar and in other countries around the world, namely in the United States of America, Canada and Britain, to continue their higher education.

The event was a poignant moment for the graduates and their families, having ended with the closing remarks by the Acting School Principal, Dr. Reena Rajesh.

MIS, with a student population drawn from almost 60 different nationalities, has had another rewarding year in the field of academics, as well as in social and sporting events.
