Temperatures have significantly gone down below 10C at a number of places with strong winds making the climate really cold.

It may be mentioned that the country was affected by a “cold wave” earlier this month for a few days due to the extension of a Siberian high-pressure system, accompanied by fresh to strong northwesterly winds.

The mercury level went up during that period for a while, after which the country also experienced rains for nearly a week.

Later, a cold spell started affecting the country since February 18. QMD attributed this phenomenon to a Siberian high-pressure system, which was accompanied by northwesterly fresh to strong winds.

Even though the nights have been chilly, temperatures in daytime too have been quite low on a number of occasions, including in Doha.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature was 9C in Karana and 12C in Doha, while the maximum ranged from 16C to 19C, showed a report from QMD.

The weather is expected to continue until Wednesday. The minimum temperature in the country on Wednesday is likely to be 11C in Mesaieed, Wakrah and Abu Samra; in Doha, while the minimum will be 14C and the maximum 21C.

As a matter of fact, Qatar has been experiencing more rain since Monday. Doha and other areas reported cases of drizzling weather on Monday night.

On Monday, the QMD had said a state of instability was expected to affect the country during the weekend due to the “passage of an upper-level trough of low pressure”.

The detailed weather report on Wednesday says that hazy to misty conditions are expected in some places at first, followed by mild daytime conditions and scattered clouds.
