The Hungarian government announced on Saturday that the country’s intelligence services have interrogated the CEO of Budapest-based BAC Consulting, which is linked to the wireless communication devices (pagers) used by members of the Lebanese Hezbollah group and which exploded last week.

Taiwanese pager manufacturer Gold Apollo said on Wednesday that the model of devices used in the Lebanon explosions was manufactured by BAC Consulting, adding that it had only granted the company its trademark and was not involved in the production of the devices.

BAC Consulting’s owner and CEO, Cristiana Parsoni Archidiacono, 49, told NBC News last week that she did not manufacture the pagers, adding that she was “just the middleman.”

The Hungarian government’s international press office said in a statement that the Hungarian intelligence services have been investigating since Wednesday and that Parsoni Arcidiaconu has been questioned several times.

The international press office issued its statement, quoting the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, one of the Hungarian intelligence agencies.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution confirmed what was stated in an earlier government statement that the pagers used in the mass bombings were never in Hungary.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s government previously said that BAC Consulting is “a commercial intermediary company, with no manufacturing or operational location in Hungary.”

On Tuesday and Wednesday, pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members exploded. The total death toll from the explosions rose to 39, with more than 3,000 people injured. Israel is widely believed to have carried out the attacks, though Israel has neither confirmed nor denied involvement.
