Israel intends to send a delegation to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to negotiate a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Tel Aviv will send a delegation to Cairo to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza and an exchange of detainees, and this will be on Saturday or Sunday.
Last Monday, Netanyahu said that Hamas is preventing an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza.
He added that Israel has not changed any of its conditions related to reaching an agreement.
He continued that Israel “adheres to the principles of the original proposal, which include the release of the largest possible number of hostages who are still alive, Israeli control over the border passage between Gaza and Egypt, and preventing Palestinian weapons and militants from returning to the northern Gaza Strip.”
