The head of the Media Committee of the Jordanian Medical Association, Dr. Hazim Al-Qarala, said, on Sunday, that the State of Qatar has reduced the board in its recent amendments to category 3 after it was category 2, and this entails allowing the Jordanian doctor to work for it after 3 years have passed since he obtained the Jordanian Medical Council certificate and after passing Country Proficiency Examination.

Al-Qarala added – in statements reported by the local Al-Ghad newspaper – that the previous classification allows the Jordanian doctor to work in the State of Qatar without undergoing an exam, and only one year after obtaining the Jordanian Medical Council certificate.

Al-Qarala confirmed that the statements of the Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Ziyad Al-Zoubi, which referred to the withdrawal of Qatar’s recognition of the Jordanian board, were misinterpreted and taken out of context.

And Jordanian media had quoted the head of the Jordanian Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Ziyad Al-Zoubi, that the State of Qatar completely withdrew recognition of the Jordanian board, as it imposed on the doctor who obtained the Jordanian board, in the event of contracting with it, to undergo the Qatari board exam or obtain the Arab board to recognize his specialization.

Al-Zoubi added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also classified the doctor who obtained the Jordanian board and graduated three years ago as a “qualified resident”, unless he obtained the Arab board, then he is classified as a consultant.

The Doctors Syndicate expressed his fear that other countries, especially the Gulf countries, would take similar decisions, after Saudi Arabia and Qatar downgraded the classification.
