Doha – Al Sharq website
Microsoft expects that the project of the first cloud data center area will provide about 36,000 jobs in Qatar, and turn it into a “digital hub for the region and the world,” according to the general manager of Microsoft Qatar, Lana Khalaf.
Khalaf said – according to Forbes Middle East – that the company will invest “more than $18 billion over the next five years.”
Last Wednesday, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in partnership with Microsoft, launched the first large-scale cloud data center area, in a ceremony held in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
This is Microsoft’s 55th region in the world, as it will join the largest cloud infrastructure in the world, which enhances the competitiveness of the State of Qatar at the regional and global levels, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, and consolidates the country’s leading position in the process of digital transformation.
Microsoft cloud services
According to a Forbes report, Microsoft cloud services provide more than 100 certifications and compliance, the largest set of certifications provided by any cloud, enabling organizations and companies to comply with many laws, including the Agency’s National Information Security Standards Compliance Certificate Qatar National Cyber Security, which was recently acquired by Microsoft.
Microsoft EMEA President Ralph Haupter says that Microsoft customers in Qatar are starting to use Microsoft’s cloud services to innovate “and do more with less.”
Reem Al-Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Society Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, said: “Qatar has become a center for digital transformation and has provided an attractive infrastructure for investment in the digital economy.”
A number of government agencies, companies, and institutions in Qatar have benefited from the services of Microsoft’s cloud data centers to develop their digital capabilities and innovate in their fields, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
