Female Flight Attendant Helping An Elderly Man
Mr. Niu, a 71-year-old man who recently suffered from a stroke, was travelling with his wife.
Miss Fan, an 11-year veteran flight attendant for Hainan Airlines, transferred him to the front seat where it’s closer to the toilet and there is more legroom. Mr Niu’s wife wasn’t successful in getting moved next to him so they had to sit apart.
Miss Fan noticed that he was struggling to eat his meal, as he couldn’t even grip his spoon. So she instantly knelt down and carefully started feeding him. He was so touched and started to cry.
She later brought a box of noodles which was easier for Mr. Niu to chew, so he cried even more. Now, this made Miss Fan teary-eyed too.
A nearby passenger took photos of the whole thing and shared it on Chinese social media. It went viral!
Mr. Niu told reporters, “Someone tried to take her photo and she asked them not to. I couldn’t help but cry as she helped me eat, blew my nose and wiped away my tears. ‘I do not know the girl’s name but given the chance I would thank her again.”
It turned out that Mr. Niu is a retired professor of medicine and a stroke left him partially paralyzed.
When asked why she did it, Ms Fan announced,
“Mr Niu worked hard all his life and contributed to society, we should be kind to him.”
Both their tearful reactions speak volumes. Miss Fan went the extra mile breaking down walls and simply helped an elder in need.
Kindness, compassion and decency are timeless and all go a long way to making our industry – even our world – a better place.
Flying can be very confronting and exhausting with all the rush going on around the world. A flight attendant has so many things running through her head. Safety procedures, service standards, and threat alerts just to name a few.
Miss Fan, brushed all these aside and acted in the most selfless and dignified way. Any airline would be lucky to have this experienced professional working with them.
It’s a privilege to count Miss Fan as a colleague!
Today, we are all swamped by our own endless priorities. We live in a “Me First” or “Why Should I?” world. But when acts like this happen, our faith in humanity is restored.
Speaking of humanity, a wise man once said:
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” – Mahatma Gandhi
If we see every situation as an opportunity to do good to others, then just maybe, those few dirty drops of the ocean would wash away. ?
