Extra US sanctions for N. Korea film studio hack?
US President Barack Obama has imposed sanctions on North Korea in the wake of November’s hack on Sony Pictures. The Hollywood studio made the madcap film about a fictional CIA plot to assassinate the North’s leader.
US President Obama signed an executive order on Friday authorizing initial sanctions to punish Pyongyang over the alleged hacking. They come on top of previous US sanctions directed at North Korea’s nuclear program.
“The order is not targeted at the people of North Korea, but rather is aimed at the government of North Korea and its activities that threaten the United States and others,” Obama said.
