Most World Cup stadiums will be ready by 2019-end
Doha – Most of the stadiums for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup will be ready by the end of 2019, according to Ghanim al Kuwari, Executive Director of the competition venues of Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC).
“We are very much satisfied with the pace of construction. Awarding of the final designs of stadiums to key contractors is going on as per the schedule. We hope that most of the competition venues will be ready by the end of 2019 or by the start of 2020,” Kuwari told Qatar Tribune on Tuesday. He said the construction work on Al Bait Stadium in Al Khor and Khalifa Stadium has already commenced.
“The contractor for Al Wakra stadium has been appointed and the construction will commence shortly,” he said.
“The design of the Khalifa stadium is modified to accommodate more number of seats as well as have a better accessibility for people with disabilities. In addition, it will have state-of-art cooling technology and offer a much better view to the spectators,” he added.
