Mohammed Hassan Al-Obaidli, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, described the measures taken by the State of Qatar regarding setting the minimum wage and facilitating the transition between employers as a “major step towards labor reforms in Qatar.”
Al-Obaidli added – in statements published by Reuters – that these reforms are in the interest of Qatar, its expatriate workers and employers.
In covering the new measures, the agency indicated that the United Nations International Labor Organization praised these changes, which it said are important and provide workers with more freedom and protection and provide employers with more options.
