Al Sadd Club rout Al Shamal in Emir Cup
Former double champions Al Sadd Club galloped to 90-63 victory in their opening Group 2 match against Al Shamal Club in the Emir Cup Basketball Championship at the Al Gharafa Club Indoor Hall on Wednesday.
Swingman Mildon Ambres debuted for Al Wakrah with an impressive double-double and his team to a fighting 87-78 victory against Al Ahli Club in another match. For the winners, the shooting beyond the arc was strong they sank nine out of 28 shots. Point guard Calvin Cage had the most four in 10.
Al Sadd, riding on Khalid Suliman Abdi’s 26 and Saad Abdulrahman Ali’s superb three-point scoring, stretched their advantage to 29 points (88-59) shortly before the end. Ali’s 22 points had six treys in eight shots. Parish Petti netted 15.
Michael Fraser also had a good match for the winners and he secured 13 points and 15 rebounds. Erfan Ali Saeed made his presence felt by netting 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Mohamed Kamal Hachad (28 pts) was the leading scorer for Al Shamal. Vincent Leron Hunter II had 18 pts and Malcolm Anthony White added 12.
