The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani held talks with several world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the sidelines of the 5th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Saturday.
President Xi seeks to further boost Qatar-China ties
During his meeting with HH the Amir, Chinese President Xi Jinping said the Amir’s visit to China in January was very successful and greatly contributed to promoting the Qatari-Chinese relations. He also underlined his readiness to work with HH the Amir to further enhance and develop the bilateral relations between the two countries.
HH the Amir highlighted the importance of his visit to China, describing the Qatari-Chinese relations as strategic. HH the Amir underlined the mutual keenness — as indicated by the Chinese president — on developing ties between the two countries in various fields.
The two leaders also reviewed the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries and the means of developing them in all fields, especially in economy, investment, energy and industry.
HH the Amir and the Chinese president also discussed the most important issues of mutual concern on the regional and international arenas.
Amir reviews ties with Jeenbekov, Rahmon, Tokayev
HH the Amir met with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov at Navruz Palace on Saturday afternoon. They reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries, the means to develop them, besides a number of issues of common concern. Jeenbekov also invited HH the Amir to visit Kyrgyzstan.
HH the Amir held a session of official talks with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the ‘Palace of Nations’ in Dushanbe on Saturday morning. At the outset of the session, Rahmon welcomed HH the Amir on his first visit to Tajikistan. He said he looked forward to strengthening the relations between the two countries in various fields, and invited HH the Amir to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
HH the Amir congratulated Rahmon for his country’s hosting of the 5th CICA. HH the Amir underlined the significance of his visit to Tajikistan which comes after 25 years of the establishment of relations between the two countries, and stressed the importance of promoting the bilateral relations, noting that there are huge and multiple opportunities for developing joint and distinct relations between the two countries. HH the Amir welcomed the invitation of President Rahmon for an official visit to the republic.
The talks reviewed the relations and friendship and cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing and bolstering them in various fields.
HH the Amir also met on Saturday with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Dushanbe.
HH the Amir congratulated Tokayev on his assumption of the presidency of Kazakhstan, wishing the relations between the two countries continued development and progress.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and the opportunities to promote them to wider horizons. HH the Amir and the President of Kazakhstan also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
The meetings were attended by ministers and other officials from Qatar and the other countries.
HH the Amir took part in the opening session of the fifth CICA, held in Navruz Palace in Dushanbe on Saturday morning, in the presence of heads of stateand delegations taking part in the summit.
HH the Amir left Dushanbe Saturday afternoon after participating in the conference.
HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation were seen off at Dushanbe international airport by Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Khusrav Noziri, Ambassador of Qatar to Tajikistan HE Ibrahim bin Mohammed al Abdullah, Deputy Ambassador of Tajikistan to Qatar HE Akram Karimov and the Qatari embassy staff.
HH the Amir sent a cable to President Rahmon, expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation in Dushanbe.
HH the Amir also praised the efforts exerted by the president to achieve the success of the conference, which will contribute to enhancing constructive cooperation between the member states and the establishment of peace, security and stability in Asia, wishing the president good health and happiness and the brotherly people of Tajikistan further progress and prosperity.
