Arab-African Parliamentary Forum concludes in Rabat

Rabat: The Arab-African Parliamentary Forum, which was held over two days under the theme of “For the Construction of a Complementary Model of Regional Cooperation”, concluded here.

Speaker of the Advisory Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, chaired the delegation of the State of Qatar at the closing session.

The Speaker expressed his thanks and appreciation to King Mohammed VI of Morocco and to the Government and people of Morocco for this initiative which seeks to deepen cooperation between the Arab and African worlds. Al Mahmoud also thanked Hakim Benchamach, Speaker of the House of Advisors of the Kingdom of Morocco and President of Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA), for hospitality, reception, and organisation, hoping that this forum will achieve its objectives.

The Speaker made a suggestion to extend a cable of appreciation and respect addressed to King Mohammed VI of Morocco for his efforts in supporting strategic initiatives focusing on developing the partnership between the Arab and African regions, which are of great importance to the countries and peoples of the Arab and African regions.

The forum emphasised in its closing statement, the need to strengthen coordination, cooperation and solidarity between the countries of Africa and the Arab world at bilateral levels, in addition to enhancing regional integration mechanisms and means of inter-cooperation, particularly in the fields of education and scientific research on food security, economic exchange, sustainable development and continuous coordination and consultation through permanent institutional channels.

In addition, the statement highlighted the importance of building mutually beneficial partnerships and launching the dynamics of human and social development projects by accelerating the formulation of cooperation strategies based on the values of solidarity, justice, and common interest.
