Arabi on top; Lekhwiya slam 7
Al Arabi hit the top spot in the Qatar Stars League for the first time in many years displacing Rayyan (who play Umm Salal on Sunday) winning 4-0 against Qatar Sports Club at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha on Saturday.
Paulinho, Mosaab Mahmoud, Sergio Dutra and Rod Fanni scored over the bottom-placed Qatar Sports while Dioko Kaluyutika scored his first goal for his new club as Gharafa thrashed Al Ahli 2-0 at the same venue, following the league’s management decision to start the implementation of the double-header system this season; which means two matches will be played at one stadium, one straight after the other.
Valdimir Weiss and Yousef Msakni both scored a brace each as champions Lekhwiya won 7-0 to go second, El Jaish and Al Khor played out a goalless draw in a goals feast weekend of the Qatar Stars League.
