Selecting Qatar as an observer member in the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (LACP) reflects the strong trust Qatar enjoys in the world and emphasises its active role in all regional and international gatherings, said Shura Council Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 35th general assembly of Latin American and Caribbean Parliament in Panama, Mahmoud said Qatar is the first country in the Middle East to become an observer member in the LACP, making Qatar’s flag being hoisted at the meeting venue in Panama for the first time.
He added that, thanks to the wise leadership of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Qatar is highly regarded and respected by the countries around the world, stressing that selecting Qatar as an observer member of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament comes to further reflect the country’s role around the world and the trust it enjoys.
He stressed that Qatar’s global status was achieved thanks to the directives of HH the Amir.
Mahmoud emphasised the need to always work with all parties, both regional and international, in order to achieve security, peace and stability around the world.
