Bedaya Centre organises workshop on ‘Labour Sector Services for Entrepreneurs’

Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre) and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) yesterday held a workshop on ‘Labour Sector Services for Entrepreneurs’ to introduce Qatari entrepreneurs and project owners to the relevant legal procedures to carry out their business efficiently.
Mahmoud al-Mahmoud, consultant at Bedaya, said the workshop was held in co-operation with the MADLSA with the participation of a number of company owners and representatives in order to raise their awareness of the Labour Law and the services offered by the ministry to facilitate their business.
The workshop was hosted by MADLSA officials and representatives, including Ahmed Saleh al-Khalaf from the labour inspection department, Abdullah al-Mahasna from the labour recruitment department and Ali Saleh al-Khalaf from the work relations department. Each of them talked about the services offered by their respective department and how to access them in addition to the penalties and fines stipulated for failing to comply with the different requirements. Al-Mahmoud noted that the participants of the workshop would have the opportunity to communicate with MADLSA officials directly and make enquiries about their concerns. He stressed that the workshop was of great importance for companies starting businesses or those that were planning to launch new projects because it introduced them to the laws and regulations to be followed and informed them on how to comply with the necessary procedures to avoid delays or mistakes that could lead to the imposition of fines or hurdles for the business.
Further, he said on sidelines of the workshop that there are some companies which offer various kinds of support services that could benefit the participants in starting their business. These pertain to labour recruitment and managing the Wage Protection System, among others.
The workshop also dealt with topics such as health & safety and occupational health, labour contracts and complaints, and the system of recruiting workers, QNA added.
