HMC’s blood bank reaches 100% self-sufficiency

DOHA – The Hamad Medical Corporation blood bank has reached 100 percent self-suffiency for the fifth consecutive year, mostly through voluntary donors, an official said at an event to honour donors on Sunday.

The event, held under the patronage of Minister of Public Health HE Abdullah bin Khalid al Qahtani coincided with World Blood Donor Day (WBDD), was held under themed ‘Thank You for Saving My life’.

Speaking to Qatar Tribune on the sidelines the ceremony where over 400 individuals, companies and communities were recognised for donating blood and supporting blood donation, Blood Donor Center Medical Manager Siddiqa al Mahmoudi said the number of donors has increased compared to previous years.
