Dr. Youssef Al-Muslimani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, confirmed that the issuance of a visit visa to the State of Qatar has become linked to applying for health insurance, explaining the position of those exempted from issuing a visit visa before coming, and visitors to the GCC countries who are citizens.
Al-Maslamani said – in an interview with Al-Rayyan TV on Tuesday evening – that the health insurance system, which will be implemented starting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 1, 2023, will provide health services to visitors that are suitable for their needs.

Mechanism for obtaining insurance
Regarding the mechanism for obtaining insurance for visitors, Al-Maslamani explained that when a visitor submits a request for a visit, the Ministry of Health website allows him health insurance companies authorized to insure visitors, and chooses one of them, then completes the visa procedures.
He added that the insurance policy begins to take effect as soon as the visitor arrives in the State of Qatar, for a period of one month.
Linking the visit with insurance
The medical director of Hamad General Hospital indicated that the law confirms that the issuance of a visit visa is linked to the existence of health insurance, and there are some nationalities that do not need a prior visa and obtain it upon arrival at the airport or land borders.
