Yesterday Doha Criminal Court sentenced him to 15 years in jail and imposed a fine of QR500,000 . Court has ordered his subsequent deportation as well upon serving the sentence.

Daily reports that accused had kept drugs hidden in the rear of his vehicle and blood test also confirmed that he habitually consumed drugs as well.

During the course of investigation he had admitted taking drugs but denied smuggling them into the country. He claimed that the vehicle had been rented and he had no information about the drugs in his vehicle.

Last month customs officer at Hamad International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle Marijuana that was hidden in the suitcase of a traveler when a woman into the country.

The marijuana was seized and the traveller was referred to the concerned security department for necessary legal procedures.

The value of contraband was estimated to be more than 1million QAR in black market.

Most of drugs seized in Qatar came through the sea where smugglers use high-speed cruisers and weapons.
