His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, held an official session of talks with His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the friendly French Republic, at the Elysee Palace in the capital, Paris, yesterday.

At the beginning of the session, His Excellency the French President welcomed His Highness the Emir, praising the close relations between the two countries, and hoping that His Highness’s visit will contribute to strengthening cooperation relations and expanding its horizons to include various fields.
For his part, His Highness the Emir expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the French President for the warm reception, noting the growth witnessed in strategic relations between the two countries, and expressing his hope for more partnership and cooperation in various fields to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries.

During the session, the existing friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed, and ways to strengthen and develop them at all levels, especially in the fields of politics, security, economy, investment, technology, health and education.
The session also discussed developments in issues on the regional and international arenas, most notably developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic, witnessed the signing ceremony of a declaration of intent for cooperation in the fields of humanitarian assistance and emergency intervention.
The session and signing ceremony were attended by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force “Lekhwiya”, His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Head of the Emiri Diwan, and His Excellency Mr. Saad. Bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Trade and Industry, His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, and His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi. The Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a number of Their Excellencies, members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Emir.

It was also attended from the French side by His Excellency Mr. Stephane Ségourny, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, His Excellency Mr. Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, His Excellency Mr. Sebastien Lecornu, Minister of Defence, and His Excellency Ms. Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture. Her Excellency Mrs. Emily Odea Castera, Minister of Sports and Olympic Games, and a number of Their Excellencies and senior officials.
His Highness the Amir and the French President held a bilateral meeting in which they discussed cooperation relations between the two friendly countries, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.
