H H the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani described the Qatari-French relations as good, strong, historical and solid, noting the mutual understanding and close cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially trade, culture, sports, security, military affairs and foreign policy.
In an interview with the French magazine “Le Point”, published today, Wednesday, 14 September, His Highness affirmed that his relationship with French President Emmanuel Macron is based on mutual respect, continuous communication, exchange of views on foreign policy, and cooperation to promote peace and play a role in achieving stability. During the meeting, His Highness the Emir touched on several pivotal issues in global political affairs and Qatar’s international relations. His Highness presented an analysis of several fundamental and diverse issues, starting with women’s issues and freedom of expression, the energy sector and its current contexts, passing through international affairs, including Gulf-Iranian relations, relations between all countries of the world, and ending with wars and international crises.

HH the Emir also highlighted, during the meeting, the pivotal role of Qatar’s foreign policy and its relentless efforts to bring divergent views closer and play the role of constructive mediation that helps all parties in the dialogue and reach peaceful solutions to their differences.
On the importance of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, His Highness the Amir expressed his aspiration for the future with regard to the relations of the State of Qatar and its sister countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Speaking about the importance of energy for the future of the world, His Highness stressed the important role that Qatar plays as a credible supplier and its commitment to the agreements it signed with all its partners, pointing out that gas will play a very important role in the transitional period and in diversifying energy sources in the long term, as it is A source of clean energy, His Highness indicated that the State of Qatar has invested huge funds in technology that contributes to carbon sequestration and reduction of combustion.
With regard to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, His Highness expressed his welcome to all fans, regardless of their origins or cultures, looking forward that this global event would contribute to enhancing their knowledge of the differences between cultures and discovering the culture of Qatar and visiting it again in the future.
In the interview, His Highness the Amir also stressed the importance of education as a pillar and a basic solution for building societies and investing in human capital, through the development of schools and universities, as a tributary of development and economic diversification, expressing great confidence in Qatar’s strong economy, and its readiness for all scenarios in the future.
In response to a question about the Islamic religion, His Highness clarified that Islam is a religion of peace, and that Muslims accept differences with the other and coexist with it. His Highness also expressed his rejection of discrimination against any minority, whether they believe in Islam or not.
