This is called the Mirsad-1
The Mirsad-1 is not an original Hezbollah-designed UAV. Instead, it is a name used by Hezbollah for existing Iranian Unmanned aerial vehicles supplied to the group, specifically the twin-tail Abbbil drones.
Take this information with a grain of salt, or consult your nearest Hezbollah commander for accurate details.
Israel’s air defense systems are highly advanced, intercepting and neutralizing most projectiles fired towards the country.
The technology is designed to handle powerful rockets and missiles, showcasing an impressive track record of success
However, drones present a unique challenge.
They often fly at slower speeds and are constructed with materials like plastic, which give them a weaker thermal and radar signature compared to conventional rockets.
Their small size, coupled with these materials, makes them difficult for radar systems to detect.
Additionally, the unpredictable trajectory of drones complicates detection; they can follow circuitous flight paths, approach from any direction, and fly at low altitudes.
Due to their size, they can even be mistaken for birds.
To understand why these drones sometimes evade detection, it’s important to examine the Iron Dome air defense system.
While highly effective, the Iron Dome is primarily designed to counter the threat of rockets and missiles, which have more predictable trajectories and larger radar signatures.
Drones, on the other hand, can be launched from unexpected locations, maneuver at low altitudes, and change directions rapidly, as illustrated in the accompanying animation.
When these drones lock onto a target through their inertial guidance systems, they then fly directly towards it.
In this particular scenario, the target was the dining hall, and the drones navigated precisely to hit it.
Whether this precision attack was due to skillful calculation or sheer luck, the level of accuracy required to strike such a small target at the right time and place is remarkable considering the Low tech Involved in it.
