Israeli hostage families call for ceasefire amid mounting anger
Protests and vigils have been taking place in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv in recent days, with people calling for an end to Israel’s offensive on Gaza and release of the hostages seized by Hamas on October the 7th.

Anger at the government, and in particular Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is mounting, and deep divisions and tensions in Israeli society are coming to the fore.

Accusing Netanyahu and his far right coalition of fuelling divisive politics at the cost of weakening Israel’s defence, the protesters were among the huge crowds who flooded Israel’s streets over judicial reforms, which would have given the government unprecedented powers, earlier this year.

Meanwhile the families of the hostages are increasingly struggling to keep hope alive despite Netanyahu’s promises to bring the captives back home.
