HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali said that the ministry is working to empower and support Qatari youth by taking leadership positions in youth centres in order to be active and involved in formulating strategies that help them achieve their goals and aspirations in the field of youth work.
The minister revealed in a speech yesterday during a forum where he spoke to young people within the activities of Najah Qatari Festival that next September will witness the election of three directors of youth centres (not specified) instead of being appointed by the minister of culture and sports as a step towards the empowerment of young people.
He added that the selection of the directors of the centres will continue in stages through elections, stressing that the state enacts laws and legislation and provides funds and all forms of support in youth centres and other centres that enable raising of competencies and youth skills in various fields.
He called on young people to work to achieve self-development before institutions in order to help in building and advancing community. (QNA)
