The Ministry of Public Health issued an explanatory statement regarding what is being circulated about allowing some countries to use insects in food production.

The ministry said – through its official account on Twitter – that it deals with any type of food in which insects are used as food that does not meet the requirements of the technical regulations for halal and is refused to be traded in the Qatari markets, based on the relevant Gulf regulations, and the legal opinion of the competent authorities that it is not permissible. Using prohibited insects or protein and supplements extracted from them in food.
