Qatar ministry opens three new premises: the women’s reception/ waiting area at the search and follow up department

The Search and Follow-Up Department of the General Directorate of Passports and Expatriates Affairs at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has opened three new buildings on Thursday.

Of the new buildings, one is dedicated to women’s waiting area, the second one is for fingerprinting and third one is called reception and affairs building, as reported by Qatar Tribune.

Brigadier Mohamed Ahmed al Ateeq, the director general of General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Expatriates Affairs, while inaugurating the new buildings, noted that opening came as part of the department’s continued expansion.

Search and Follow-Up Department also has a private clinic to provide medical care to detainees, along with various facilities for exercise and entertainment, as stated by al Ateeq.

He added that the department follows the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and completes necessary legal procedures to secure the departure of violators.

Moreover, the dormitory for detainees has undergone comprehensive revamp to include beds, dining area, a mosque and places of entertainment. It also has a medical clinic equipped with advanced devices.

Many telephone booths have also been set up to make it easy for the detainees to contact their families and relatives.

As a matter of fact, the new building for women’s waiting meets all international standards and provides all services for free. The new women’s building has been built at a cost of QR5 million, as claimed by Brig Mohamed Thani al Modahaka, the director of Building Affairs Department of Logistics Directorate at MoI.Spread over an area of 2,000 square metres, the building has 20 dormitories which can accommodate 400 women.

The criminal evidences and information office, on the other hand, has also been equipped with the latest devices to ease procedures for people leaving the country.
