Qatar and UK to strengthen cultural ties

Doha: Minister of Culture and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali met here yesterday with British Parliamentary delegation headed by MP Alistair Carmichael at the Museum of Islamic Art.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cultural cooperation between Qatar and UK, and to activate the role of cultural centers and museums in promoting the rapprochement between the two cultures. The Minister addressed cultural variables on the international scene and the Ministry’s vision of dealing with those variables, by embracing a clear vision that seeks to build a society that is conscious of a genuine conscience and a healthy body. The meeting was attended by officials of the Ministry and representatives of the Youth Advisory Committee of the Ministry. The Minister spoke about the eight perspectives adopted by the Ministry in realising its vision, namely, the vision of man, science, nature, life, time, afterlife, within the community and far from the communities, and measuring the movement of progress and effectiveness within society, and identifying the most important foundations of progress and renaissance in societies.He stressed the importance of the role of young people in building the state of Qatar and their contribution to leadership in various locations in the country, explaining that the Ministry of Culture and Sports pays great attention to youth, and that they are represented and have an active role in the various programs and projects of the Ministry.

The Youth Advisory Committee takes the problems and aspirations of young people ideas and turns them into reality in future programs and initiatives.  Members of the British Parliamentary delegation expressed their admiration for the architectural design of the Museum of Islamic Art.
The delegation moreover commended the vision of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, which is concerned with contemporary variables and their interest in youth, and expresses their hope for greater cooperation between the State of Qatar and UK on cultural and Youth Affairs.
