Qatari-US strategic dialogue to begin tuesday

Doha: Qatar announced Friday that Qatari-US strategic dialogue will begin on Tuesday, January 30, in the U.S. capital Washington.

A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representing Qatar will be participating in the dialogue led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the Ministry of Defense led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, the Ministry of Energy and industry led by Minister of Energy and Industry, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce led by the Minister of Economy and Commerce and the Ministry of Finance represented by the Minister of Finance.

Accompanying the delegation will also be representatives of other state ministers and authorities, they are: the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and Communication, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Airways, Qatar Central Bank, Qatar Investment Authority, and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.

US side will see the participation of the Department of State led by the Secretary of State, the Department of Defense led by the Secretary of Defense, Department of Treasury led by the Secretary of Treasury, Department of Commerce led by the Secretary of Commerce as well as representatives of other authorities.

There will also be a number of agreements, Memorandums of Understandings (MoU), and letters of intent signed, including a MoU in the field of energy. There will also be a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Qatar Ports Management Company and the American side, a letter of intent between the U.S. Department of Energy and the Qatari Ministry of Transport and Communication in the field of cybersecurity of the critical infrastructure for energy. The two sides will also announce a number of agreements following the conclusion of the talks on January 30.

The dialogue comes in the context of enhancing the partnerships between the two countries in light of the historic ties and strategic interests they both share on all political, economical, cultural, educational, and security levels.
