“Now, the shoppers in Qatar have become more cautious. They want quality items at reasonable prices. This is where Dragon Mart fits in. Many families have shifted from buying expensive household items from branded shops to purchasing reasonably priced quality Chinese items at our mall,” Yang said.

The number of Qatari nationals shopping at Dragon Mart has also increased this year.

He said a major share of total purchases at various shops in the mall was done by Qataris this year.

Yang said about 10 percent of the shops meant for food outlets are unoccupied at the moment.

“We are waiting for approval from the authorities to start food courts at the mall. As soon as we get the approval, the mall will be fully occupied,” Yang said.

Although the number of transactions has not increased in the same proportion as the number of visitors, Yang said, the overall business at the mall was much better compared to last year.
