Among the affected areas are Doha, Mesaieed and Wakrah, where thick fog led to a sharp drop in visibility in these places.

QMD stated in a statement that due to easterly light winds, some sea fog patches moved inland towards the eastern coastal areas” on Sunday. As a result, visibility dropped below 1km and became zero at times, as reported by Gulf Times.

There was, in fact, widespread fog formation over most areas, along with lower night temperatures. The fog remained until late yesterday morning before dissipating gradually.

Moreover, according to weather reports, high pressure continued to affect the country along with easterly-northeasterly light winds, which made conditions favourable for fog formation until Thursday.

In this connection, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and QMD has issued advisories on social media for motorists, explaining the dos and don’ts while driving in foggy conditions that lead to low visibility.

MoI urged motorists to be extra cautious and follow safety precautions. They have been asked to not use hazard and high-beam lights in such conditions. Instead, fog and low-beam headlights are to be used.
