QRCS Distributes QR1mn Winter Aid in Afghanistan

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) personnel in Afghanistan are conducting the Warm Winter program to provide basic winter aid for more than 1,500 poor families affected by the earthquake and snow season, with a total budget of USD275,000 (QR 1,000,810).

Initiated in mid-November 2015, the project is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the needy and displaced in the face of the cold winter. It involves distributing 1,500 wood heaters, 10,500 blankets, and 1,500 bags of winter clothes to 10,500 beneficiaries in the provinces of Badakhshan, Faryab, and Wardak.

Badakhshan was the center of the earthquake that hit Afghanistan late in October 2015, which left behind many casualties, tremendous damage, and deteriorated humanitarian conditions, especially in the hard-to-reach mountainous areas.
