Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have signed a cooperation agreement to cement ties between the two organisations. The agreement was signed by QIB’s Board Member and Head of Zakat Committee, Mansour al Muslah, and QRCS Secretary-General, Ali bin Hassan al Hammadi.
The agreement will seek to foster closer cooperation between the two organisations, to support the execution of social and humanitarian projects. The responsibilities, efforts, and duties are underlined by the bank’s commitment to providing financial aid to programmes and projects related to ordinary and emergency cases in Qatar and contribution to charity projects proposed by QRCS.
Additionally, it was agreed that a joint committee would be established to follow up with and evaluate the projects and share results about the supported initiatives.
Commenting on the agreement, Muslah said, “At QIB, we are pleased to sign this agreement with QRCS, as it serves our common objectives. QIB Zakat Committee’s core objective is to strengthen bonds of cooperation and unity among the Muslim society, by directing Zakat funds to those in need of them. Additionally, the committee has a responsibility of enhancing the relations with charity organizations within our country, headed by QRCS, which has a vital role in servicing the society.”
“The agreement will intensify the work of Zakat Committee and QIB’s big role, which is part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. This is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on social values and promotes social cohesion in Qatar,” Muslah added.
Upon signing the agreement, Muslah announced that QIB Zakat Committee donated QR500,000 to QRCS, which will be used in urgent programs to support the people in need.
For his part, Hammadi said, “We thank QIB Zakat Committee for their noble gesture in cooperating with QRCS to aid the people in need and the society, based on the principle of partnership and CSR. Their support is a significant contribution to our charity and social work. We ask Allah to help us to continue our efforts to reach the largest number of people in need and to meet their needs. We support humans wherever they are”.
“The agreement is a result of close coordination between both parties. It opens the door for further joint action and understanding to achieve common social and developmental objectives, residing under the umbrella of Qatar National Vision 2030,” Hammadi added.
