Shocked Moscovites rally after Nemstov murder

Russians shocked by Friday’s assassination of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov have gathered to mourn in Moscow. In a last interview, Nemtsov accused President Vladimir Putin of stoking “senseless aggression” in Ukraine.

Organizers claimed more than 70,000 people had gathered to show their respects in the Russian capital on Sunday, with many more expected. Police estimates were far lower, with officials putting the number at 16,000.

Meanwhile, Western media carried translated excerpts from Nemtsov’s last radio interview aired by the station Echo Moskwy, just three hours before he was shot dead on a Moscow bridge near the Kremlin close to midnight while walking home.
