Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim bin Saif al Sulaiti has submitted Qatar’s first application for membership of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for the upcoming Council session within Category C. The election for ICAO membership will be held during the ICAO Assembly in September.
This came during a meeting between the minister and the ICAO Secretary-General Dr Fang Liu in Montreal, Canada.
The meeting reviewed Qatar-ICAO relations in civil aviation industry and means of further enhancing them. It also discussed aviation security and safety in the region, stressing its importance for maintaining highest efficiency levels.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Canada HE Saud bin Abdullah al Mahmoud and Chairman of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Abdulla bin Nasser Turki al Subaey attended the meeting.
