Unidentified gunmen open fire on Turkiye’s ruling party office in Istanbul
Similar attacks targeted Turkish opposition parties, such as the CHP and the Good Party, just a few days earlier

During the early hours of 22 April in Istanbul’s Bahcelievler Kocasinan district, a group of unidentified assailants opened fire on the election liaison office of the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP), according to the Daily Sabah.
According to the reports, no one was injured in the attack, but a large number of police officers were dispatched to the crime scene. After securing the area, the officers began their investigation, which is still ongoing.
Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, the AK Party’s Istanbul Provincial Chairperson fiercely denounced the armed attacks on his social media account.
“I would like to state that we will pursue the issue before the law. Our greatest consolation is that there were no casualties or injuries in the attack. We will not give these attacks an opportunity and we will continue to meet with our fellow citizens in an atmosphere of complete democracy,” he said.
Meanwhile, the deputy Chair person of the AKP, Omer Celik, said, “We condemn the attempted armed attack in front of our Bahçelievler Kocasinan Liaison Office in Istanbul. We are against all kinds of harassment, provocation and attacks against the political institution. Our organizations continue their election work with full determination.”
In the southern Adana region of Turkiye, only a few days ago, an unidentified assailant opened fire on the AK Party’s Cukurova district offices. Using a machine gun, the suspect fired 12 bullets at the structure. The police arrested the suspect soon after the attack.
While earlier this month, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), a member of the Turkish opposition, witnessed a comparable incident at its headquarters in Istanbul, where up to seven shots were fired into the air from a car speeding on the highway close by the CHP office, which followed another attempted “shooting” at the Istanbul offices of the Good Party (IP), a political ally of the CHP.
