An initiative of Qatar Airways to issue visas on arrival to boost Qatar’s economy and winter tourism. Travel operators are offering travel packages to make the most of government’s decision to issue visas on arrival.
The move has witnessed a 30% increase in the number of travellers opting for a short-term stay in Qatar. Local tour operators have also come up with different packages which includes adventurous desert safaris and night stays at winter camps with traditional Arabic food.
The initiative by Qatar Airways is expected to raise the number of visitors to the country from 2.9 million in 2015 to over 5 million within three years.
