Qatar-US Economic Forum to begin today in North Carolina

Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassem bin Mohammed Al Thani met with Mark Sanford, a US Congressman from South Carolina. The Minister also met with representatives of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance.

DOHA: Qatar-US Economic Forum, oganised by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, will begin today in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Forum will be organised in cooperation with the Qatar Chamber, the US Chamber of Commerce, the Qatari Businessmen Association, the US-Qatari Business Council and a number of official US agencies.

The forum is organised within the framework of Qatar’s Economic Roadshow in the US, which spanned four US cities in its first phase starting in Miami Florida, then Washington DC, Charleston, South Carolina and Raleigh, North Carolina.

The forum aims at bolstering and expanding Qatari-U.S trade and economic relations and provides an important platform for dialogue between businessmen from both countries. The forum also presents an opportunity to promote cooperation between the Qatari and US private sectors and to discuss the development of joint investment projects to the benefit of both countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Qatar’s Economic Roadshow in Charleston, South Carolina. Discussions touched on the promotion of cooperation between Qatar and the US, particularly in the economic and investment sectors as well as efforts to encourage the Qatari and US private sectors to establish joint investment projects.

The Minister also met with representatives of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance. The meeting was attended by a number of CEOs from major companies in South Carolina in health, technology, training and development sectors.

The officials met over a business lunch organised on the sidelines of Qatar’s Economic Roadshow in Charleston, South Carolina. Discussions touched on the prospects for joint cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields and the promotion of bilateral relations. Attendees also discussed the investment incentives that Qatar is offering and the economic diversification strategy pursued by the state to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030, which significantly contributes to the nation’s development.

The alliance brings together a growing network of investors, staff, business, academic and governmental partners committed to strengthening regional employment and building a base of high-value industries to improve the three-county Charleston region’s economy into the future. The Charleston Regional Development Alliance also serves as a catalyst for long-term regional prosperity by attracting the world’s best companies, talent, and entrepreneurs.
