Light rains are expected to hit the country by Tuesday, with the coming weekend to experience heavy showers, the meteorology department has announced.

The numerical weather prediction charts of the QMD continued to indicate a state of atmospheric instability that has been affecting the country due to the extension of an upper-level low pressure system from Tuesday until the end of this month, the Gulf Times, reports.

The QMD claims that the instability will have a weak impact on Tuesday, with a chance of light rain over some areas during the daytime on Wednesday.

In the offshore areas wave height are expected to range between 7ft and 10ft, reaching 13ft at times in some areas. A subsequent warning has also been issued by the QMD.

The QMD has also urged people to be cautious and avoid sea activities.

It may be noted that the authorities concerned have charted out a joint action plan on how to deal with any situation arising out of rainfall in different parts of the country and rain-preparedness works have also been carried out at a number of places, as the Gulf Times reports.

The weather department has also pointed out that the offshore areas would experience strong winds with high seas in early hours of Monday.

Hazy conditions are expected at times along with some clouds in the offshore areas.

As for the inshore areas, hazy conditions are expected at first followed by mild temperature during the day with some clouds, with nights expected to be cold.

Mesaieed and Wakrah are expected to record a temperature off 15C on Monday, while in Doha it will be relatively higher at 21C. The maximum temperature will be 30C in Doha, Al Khor and other places.

A minimum temperature of 16C was recorded in Mesaieed, followed by 17C in Turayna. In the capital, a minimum of 21C was recorded in the Hamad International Airport and Qatar University areas. The maximum, meanwhile, was 31C in the Doha airport area.
