Syria’s interim president, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, visited Saudi Arabia on February 2, marking a shift in Syria’s relations, as the visit signals a potential break from Iran. The trip, with officials previously linked to al-Qaida, was seen as a strategic move by Damascus, with Al-Sharaa meeting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to the US for discussions with President Trump on Hamas, countering Iran, and strengthening relations with Arab nations. New resistance group, the Islamic Resistance Front in Syria (IRFS), vowed retaliation against Israel and President Al-Sharaa’s forces. Turkey, engaged in military action against the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, hopes for a shift in US policy under Trump, while also continuing its efforts to fight terrorism in Syria.
