The Sculpted Torus, which is the first art piece of this year’s Doha Festival City has been installed. The art piece, created by renowned artist and sculptor David Harber, is now the pride of City Mall’s centre court. Harber is known for his overseas work and in 2016 was awarded with the prestigious ‘The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade’.

The art-piece is 4m in diameter will greet the guests when the mall opens on April 5th. As many as five variations of the Torus will be installed throughout the city, they are all part of David Harber’s limited iconic Torus series.

The Sculpted Torus is fashioned out of marine grade stainless steel and it will be in company of a smaller (2m) Torus, which is only slightly different in design in comparison to the original design.

“It is our absolute pleasure to have artworks of an artist such as David as part of our festival, we consider it our good fortune that we are the one’s bringing his artworks to Qatar”, the General Manager of the Doha Festival City, Trevor Hill said.


Harber is also working on a 4m bronze Keystone Ring with a Verdigris finish, this art-piece will be showcased outside one of the main entrances to the Doha Festival City mall,

Harper is also currently designing some hanging tree canopies, these will be placed in the two glass atria of the North Food Court.

All the art-works of Harber, which are scheduled to be showcased as part of the Doha Festival City will be handcrafted by the artist himself at his Oxfordshire workshop in England and all the pieces are expected to arrive in Qatar by April.

The Doha Festival City Mall is preparing to open next month and the installation of the sculptures are part of the finishing touches for the grand opening.
