Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today that his country will start its first space trials of a locally developed liquid-fuel missile engine.

During the inauguration of the Roketsan Center for Satellite Launch Systems and Advanced Technology Research, Erdogan said, “Through this project, we will be able to place small satellites, weighing no more than 100 kg, in the low Earth orbit of about 400 km altitude.”

He pointed out that the project to launch small satellites will be completed before 2025.
