FIFA has confirmed that international matches will be held in January 2022, as the qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup Qatar continue to be crowded due to the Corona pandemic (Covid-19).

In a statement, FIFA said that the new date for the matches was approved by the FIFA Council today.

This applies to all continents except Europe, and international matches will be held from January 24 to February 1, 2022, and this means that European clubs will be obligated to allow their players to participate in these matches.

FIFA also agreed to hold the CONCACAF Gold Cup from July 10 to August 1 next year, and to hold the postponed African Cup of Nations from 2021 in January 2022.

Apart from the European Nations League matches that were held this month, international matches have been suspended since last March due to the pandemic that caused a major disruption to the World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Six rounds of the Asian World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers have been postponed, while the South American qualifiers, which were scheduled to start last March, will not start until October at the very least.

The CONCACAF qualifiers, which were scheduled to start this month, will not start until next March, although the qualifiers have been modified, but teams can still play 18 matches to reach the finals of the 2022 World Cup Qatar.
